Travel by public transport

  • The 360 and 60 bus lines stop near Culzean Castle.

Parking

  • Disabled parking is available at Home Farm, Swan Pond and the Walled Garden.
  • Parking is available in front of the castle for disabled drivers only; disabled passengers may be dropped off here.

Arrival

  • From the car park to the entrance, there is level access.
  • There is a permanent ramp.

Getting around

Getting around inside

  • There is manual wheelchair access to the castle; however, no powered mobility vehicles are permitted. Please ask on arrival at the castle about wheelchairs.

Accessible toilet

  • There are disabled toilets at the castle, Swan Pond and at Home Farm.

Getting around outside

  • Some parts of the Country Park are accessible.
  • Car parking at the Walled Garden allows easy access to paths and picnic areas.
  • There is no easy access to the beach.
  • There are gravel paths with some ramps in the garden.
  • There is wheelchair access into vinery glasshouse in the Walled Garden. The Wildlife Garden and Herb Garden are slabbed and access is from the Walled Garden or off Silver Avenue.
  • Access to the Fountain Court Garden is by steps from the castle. Alternative access is available down a ramp near the Viaduct where mobility-impaired visitors may be dropped off for easy access.
  • Woodland areas are partially accessible by wheelchair along the main paths. Uneven surface in places.
  • There are no powered mobility vehicles for hire at Culzean; however, we do have a mobility golf buggy running most days. Please check with us prior to arrival to avoid disappointment.

Things to see and do

  • Culzean Castle is the perfect place for a day out, whether you're a keen walker, enjoy admiring gardens, have an interest in architecture or just enjoy soaking up some history.
  • Our younger visitors can run wild in the Adventure Cove and Wild Woodland play areas.
  • Pirate-themed Adventure Cove play area is a unique space where children of all abilities can spend hours having fun.
  • There are guides in most rooms of the castle, who are always happy to answer questions.
  • We provide information sheets in each room, which give details of the architecture, furniture, objects and paintings.
